STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE

Back

The California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) is a California Joint Powers Authority, funded by Proposition 63 (Mental Health Services Act) dollars from 49 member counties. CalMHSA funds CCSESA’s initiative, one of twenty-six different projects that are grouped into three categories: Suicide Prevention; Stigma and Discrimination Reduction; and Student Mental Health.

The goals of the CCSESA Regional K-12 Student Mental Health Initiative are to:

Build the capacity of schools and communities to implement prevention and early identification strategies that promote student mental health

Build relationships among local agencies to develop effective use of resources and improve communication and information sharing

Build capacity in the county offices of education and school districts to provide education and training of school staff and technical assistance to schools for program development and implementation
